It has recently occurred to me that when painting there is a loss of self. \u00a0You know that saying \u201cI Get Lost\u201d when that happens! \u00a0It is such a place of joy and peace. \u00a0The other quintessential saying \u201cI lose track of time\u201d when I am doing this or that. \u00a0It is truly the joy of Creativity that is happening.<\/p>\n
If you are finding yourself stressing out frequently I highly recommend doing something creative. \u00a0It is actually a divine practice. \u00a0Getting lost in the unknown is even better. \u00a0Creating and experimentation is the double whammy. \u00a0Since the beginning of Covid, I started a new venture into the \u201cUnknown\u201d of non objective painting.<\/a> \u00a0In other words, I step up to the canvas without research, references, ideas, no planning and just \u201cPLAY\u201d!<\/p>\n It is the most freeing feeling that has ever happened in the painting process for me. \u00a0Beginning with only color and a brush with bold and flamboyant strokes, the canvas is filled with color and texture that is often only created with eyes closed. \u00a0Imagine the fun you could have.<\/p>\n After drying, it is fun to draw with crayons, pencils, charcoal, pastels, all kinds of graphics will do. \u00a0Play, play, and more play! \u00a0Then if that isn\u2019t enough, the collaging<\/a> \u00a0begins! \u00a0Colorful, sometimes transparent papers with words, designs colors that contrast or harmonize with the colors that \u00a0are placed on the canvas randomly!<\/p>\n If you have studied composition then you know that the viewers eyes need to be drawn into a \u201csweet spot\u201d on your canvas. \u00a0Look up the https:\/\/www.mos.org\/leonardo\/activities\/golden-ratio<\/a>golden mean and you will get it immediately. \u00a0Watch a movie and see how the director moves the focal point around the screen. \u00a0It is fascinating and a great learning process if you are concentrating on the concept.<\/p>\n Now the fun begins and actually the design process to create the composition. \u00a0Here is a little video that takes you through a few of the steps of a past painting of mine. \u00a0Enjoy, and if you are interested in seeing more of this collection click here<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
