My Montmarte France Fine Art Print is inspired by my visits to Paris year after year.  This painting interpertation  depicts a time of bygone years when Montemarte was the place to see and be seen by artist of favor during the turn of the century.  It is part of the Architectural Whimsy Collection.    These paintings and prints are a colorful, vibrant and playful series.

I was visiting the quaint village of St. Paul de Vence in the south of France after teaching a workshop, and as I was walking down the stone staircase, I looked out over the village and noticed that they were leaning or tilting with age.  I was inspired to paint them as they were and sold the works immediately.  The rest is history.  This collection is now much more about my feelings of magic visiting these charming places in the quiet corners of Italy and France rather than what I actually saw.  They sway and sing, talk and dance in their whimsical contortions.

As I developed this series it came to my attention that everyone has that special attachment to their memories, from their travels,  of these magical places. I love my favorite pieces hanging in my kitchen and living room.  Every time I pass them, it reminds me of that special moment from travels to a magical place. “Old Town Nice”, This painting was done before the Architectural Whimsy become more prevalent. It is filled with color and teaming with a harbor, fisherman, and endless shopping, sunbathing and lovely eateries. I return to Nice every year as my beginning point for my travels. It is filled with Colorful Magic.
