This painting was created in response to my trip to Egypt.  I was fascinated with the explanations that were shared by the Egyptologist regarding the hieroglyphs.  Their language is was all in images.  Each image represented words and letters.  For an artist this is like candy.  The obsessive collaging was the beginning point for this painting.  Then the contour drawing of the cranes, which in their culture represent the creation of life. It was really the beginning of my exploration into the surface becoming more abstracted.  After the drawings I began to play with the shapes and spaces which gave the painting depth.  Layers and layers of collage helped to determine the places to paint into.  Such a different place in the brain to work from.  Love this process.

This Collection of  abstract paintings, which will be an on going collection, is in response to my own feelings about literal interpretations through my work vs. this process oriented approach to a canvas.  I am finding that the acrylic abstract paintings begins to speak to me, tells me stories about their meanings after I am finished.  Sometimes the stories grow and change without ever touching them any further.  With the way the human experience is unfolding, it is difficult to put into words, as well as on canvas, how colorful magic can express the state of affairs in literal terms. It is a gift that has been bestowed upon me to create stories through this medium.  I believe art buyers and art collectors will enjoy spending time contemplating these paintings depicting Juxtapositions of Life.
