French Travel Prints

My French Travel Prints are inspired by the travels that I  have taken to Magical Places across the globe.  These paintings and prints are the Inspiration for The Architectural Whimsy Collection which is a colorful, vibrant and playful series.

I was visiting the quaint village of St. Paul de Vence in the south of France after teaching a workshop, and as I was walking down the stone staircase, I looked out over the village and noticed that they were leaning or tilting with age.  I was inspired to paint them as they were and sold the works immediately.  The rest is history.  This collection is now much more about my feelings of magic visiting these charming places in the quiet corners of Italy and France rather than what I actually saw.  They sway and sing, talk and dance in their whimsical contortions.

As I developed this series it came to my attention that everyone has that special attachment to their memories, from their travels,  of these magical places. I love my favorite pieces hanging in my kitchen and living room.  Every time I pass them, it reminds me of that special moment from travels to a magical place.  “Market Day In Sarlat”  depicts a Magical Place  that Kathleen frequents. These Colorful, vibrant places have blossomed into multiple images of beloved locations and are some of her patrons favorite works. Sarlat is an amazing working medieval village in the heart of the Dordogne region along the famous river of the same name. Driving through the countryside around this area is like experience a time of castles, kings and queens, and just beautiful Colorful Magic. The market days in France are beyond sumptuous. Rows and rows of beautiful fruits and vegetables dancing in the street. The lanes move with laughter, love, light feelings and overwhelming sense of joy! It is Colorful Magic at it’s best..  It is one of my fondest memories of the France.

These inspirational experiences have blossomed into multiple images of beloved US locations as well as Europe and Mexico. Many of the Architectural Whimsy images are available as hand embellished, limited edition Giclee Prints on canvas, as well as some open edition prints and products.  Three different sizes are available.  The original, the limited edition print, and the smaller open edition print.

Each painting that is chosen for a limited edition print is scanned and then digitally produced, archived and available to utilize for your order. The high-quality canvas provides a consistent surface that allows for an incredibly intense range of colors and depth. Once Kathleen receives your ordered print from her manufacturer, she personally hand paints the print with her fine art acrylics, enhances it with gel medium for texture and then finishes it with a final coat of acrylic finish varnish. It is then signed and numbered and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
