My Architectural Whimsy Collection is inspired by my travels. I  have taken to Magical Places across the globe.  These works are a colorful, vibrant and playful series that began during my travels in Europe.

I was visiting the quaint village of St. Paul de Vence in the south of France after teaching a workshop, and as I was walking down the stone staircase, I looked out over the village and noticed that they were leaning or tilting with age.  I was inspired to paint them as they were and sold the works immediately.  The rest is history.  This collection is now much more about my feelings of magic visiting these charming places in the quiet corners of Italy and France rather than what I actually saw.  They sway and sing, talk and dance in their whimsical contortions.

As I developed this series it came to my attention that everyone has that special attachment to their memories, from their travels,  of these magical places.  I know that I love my favorite pieces hanging in my kitchen and living room.  Every time I pass them, it reminds me of that special moment in a magical space.

These inspirational experiences have blossomed into multiple images of beloved US locations as well as Europe and Mexico. Many of the Architectural Whimsy images are available as hand embellished, limited edition Giclee Prints on canvas, as well as some open edition prints and products.  Three different sizes are available.  The original, the limited edition print, and the smaller open edition print.
